One highlight is the Jam Latte and Jam Matcha, favorites among locals like Caitlin Lee, who appreciates not only the quality but also the friendly service. The baristas welcome you like an old friend—knowledgeable and eager to share their craft. The offerings extend beyond coffee; the Lambrusco float and lively desserts featuring high-quality cookies delight the taste buds, further solidifying Bastion as a culinary destination.
The intricately roasted beans, lauded by Ricky Garcia, serve as the foundation for these unique concoctions. Each sip delivers bold flavors that awaken the senses, while the café's inviting design fosters a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a quick recharge or a lingering catch-up with friends.
Consider trying their chais for a slightly bitter yet satisfying option, as suggested by Mason Finn Kennedy, who also loved the café's wall aesthetics—an homage to the local art scene. It’s this attention to detail that resonates within the community, making Bastion Coffee Roasters much more than just a coffee stop.

“ I adore the seasonal coffees here. I'll always get it without fail. We also get our coffee beans for home here. --- coffee --- All the seasonal drinks --- dinner --- Lambrusco float - slightly sour - cuts the sweetness of the soft serve - fruity Cookie crumble - high quality cookies used - really good soft serve ”
“ Some of my favorite matcha in PDX! The jam lattes/jam matcha are a staple in my diet. Amazing service and super personable baristas. The space is cozy and welcoming and there’s always good music playing. ”
“ Best coffee shop in Portland! Masterfully roasted beans, unique and delicious drink options, and top notch service. Highly recommend, it's also located at a perfect spot on Mississippi Ave with plenty of places to visit after grabbing a coffee! ”
“ The drinks were great and the food looked good too! My one recommendation is that if the nice barista asks if you want sweetener in your chai you say yes! They use Soul Chai and while I enjoyed it, it was a bit bitter for my taste (my fault!) The service is great and the barista was super nice. We discussed the cowboy prints on the wall! The ambiance of the shop is great too. The interior seems like a great spot to stop and spend some time working or hanging out. ”
“ Divine craft, uniquely unfettered, unleashed in a congenial, homey space. Best drink-to-vibe ratio in town, hands down. Allow me to illustrate: there was once a great mountain in the northeast, and on that mountain lived a man, and on that man lived a worm, and in that worm lived a dream, and a gift. If that gift, who survived in the presence of a dream in a worm, on the man who lived on the great mountain in the northeast could be felt and tasted, you would find it here; and you would be better for it. ”
“ The barista made a pretty good mocha. I would definitely visit again if I am in the area. The place is tiny but has good vibes ”
“ Best coffee I had on my trip to Portland. Every ingredient was measured on a scale for perfection but still made quickly and the pastry was awesome too Had the jam latte ”
“ Absolutely loved my quick stop at Bastion Coffee Roasters! I grabbed a raspberry matcha cold drink with oat milk—and wow, it might be the best one I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced flavors, not too sweet, and super refreshing. Big bonus: they don’t charge extra for non-dairy milk-an appreciated touch! The vibe is cool and laid-back, with great music, comfy seating, and genuinely friendly staff. Whether you’re just passing through or looking for a cozy spot to hang, this place is a must-try. ”
